Delhi New Delhi, city, northern India. The countrys capital city, New Delhi is located in the state of Delhi, on the Yamuna River. New Delhi was built between 1912 and 1929 on a site adjacent to Delhi, or Old Delhi, which had been chosen to replace Calcutta as the capital of India in 1911; New Delhi was inaugurated as the new capital in 1931. Visit Jaipur The Rose Pink City founded by Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693-1743), is the capital of Rajasthan. It is a major attraction for the first-time visitor. Jaipur is surrounded on all sides by rugged hills, crowned with forts & enclosed by embattled walls. Visit Agra Agra is also a popular destination amongst shoppers. The Mughal antecedents of this region reflect itself in some of the finest handicrafts that are available here. The most important being marble items inlaid with colored stones, similar to the pietra dura work on Taj Mahal. Visit Ajmer Ajmer is the most sacred of all Muslim places of pilgrimage in India. In 1193, after Prithviraj Chauhan had lost Ajmer to Sultan Mohammed of Ghori, the Persian saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, who had come with Ghori, settled and preached here. Visit Bharatpur Established in 1956 as a bird sanctuary, 1981 as a national park, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park or Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary lies between two of India's most historic cities, Agra and Jaipur. Visit Bikaner Founded in 1488, Bikaner is a desert built on an elevation and surrounded by a long embattled wall pierced by five gates. Visit Chittorgarh Chittorgarh is located in the southern part of the state of Rajasthan, in the northwestern part of India. It is located beside a high hill near the Gambheri River. Visit Jaisalmer Jaisalmer is like the golden mirage in the heart of Thar Desert .This amber-hued city, in the heart of the desert, dazzles gloriously in the early morning. The sunset has a peculiar glow here. Visit Jodhpur Set at the edge of the Thar desert, the imperial city of Jodhpur echoes with tales of antiquity in the emptiness of the desert. Once the capital of the Marwar state , it was founded in 1459 A.D. by Rao Jodha-chief of the Rathore clan of Rajputs who claimed to be descendants of Rama - the epic hero of the Ramayana. Visit Mount Abu Welcome to the only hill resort in the desert land of Rajasthan, Mount Abu. The lushness of Mount Abu makes the hill resort being referred to as the paradise of Rajasthan. Visit Pushkar Pushkar is one of the frequently visited tourist destinations of Rajasthan. Characterised by a picturesque valley, mountainous regions, uncommon scenic spots, and several pilgrimage sites of importance, Pushkar is known all over. Visit Udaipur Located in the Aravalli ranges of Rajasthan, the city of Udaipur is situated at a distance of about 405 km from the state capital Jaipur. Visit Varanasi Varanasi stands on the west bank of the river Ganga as it flows through the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It is at a distance of 764kms from Delhi, 678kms from Calcutta, and Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal is a 12 hour drive away. Visit Khajuraho In the temple architecture of India, the Khajuraho complex remains unique. One thousand years ago, under the generous and artistic patronage of the Chandela Rajput kings of Central India, 85 temples, magnificent in form and richly carved, came up on one site, near the village of Khajuraho. Visit Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary Established in 1958 as a Sanctuary, 1979 as a Tiger Reserve, 1982 as a National Park, Sariska National Park lies in the Aravalli hills and is the former hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Alwar. Visit Ranthambore National Park Established in 1955 as a Sanctuary, 1973 as a Tiger Reserve, 1981 as a National Park, Ranthambore National Park is situated in India. s northwestern state of Rajasthan, near the town of Sawai Madhopur, midway between Bharatpur and Kota townships. Visit Corbett National Park The Corbett National Park is located in the terai region of the state of Uttar Pradesh, straddling the undulating Shivalik foothills of the Himalayas. Visit Fatehpur Sikari 37 kms from Agra is built a city predominantly in Red Sandstone and is called Fatehpur Sikri. This town was built by the Mughal Emperor, Akbar. He had planned this city as his capital but shortage of water compelled him to abandon the city. Visit Kashmir Kashmir is one of indias most beautiful and touristically popular regions and has been since the time of the great Moghul emperors.
